We love the sun, but unfortunately it doesn't always love our skin back. Taking care of your skin isn't just about being careful with your routine. One of the most important steps in your routine is actually sun protection. Skin aging is 90% caused by the sun's rays, which is why SPF is your skin's best friend, all year round.
But what do UVA, UVB and that UV index really mean? Here's everything you need to know.
What is UV radiation?
UV radiation is invisible rays from the sun and they can do more damage than you might think. There are three different types:
UVA – the long-wave type that penetrates deep into the skin. It’s the one responsible for those pesky things like wrinkles, age spots, and premature aging. UVA rays are there all day long , even when it’s cloudy.
UVB – the one that gives you a sunburn. It is a little stronger but does not penetrate as deeply. It is UVB that is more likely to cause skin cancer, but also helps the body produce vitamin D.
UVC – it is the most dangerous form, but it is stopped (fortunately!) by the ozone layer and does not reach us on Earth.

What is the UV index?
The UV index is a scale that shows how strong UV radiation is today. The higher the number, the greater the risk of getting burned. In the middle of the day, especially in summer, the UV index can be really high, making it extra important to bring your sunscreen.
When the UV index is low, below 2, no sunscreen is needed. However, when the UV index rises to between 4 and 7, the risk of harmful effects from the sun increases, and it is important to protect your skin. A UV index of 3 or higher ? Then it's time to start applying sunscreen!
When should you use sunscreen and SPF?
If you are going to be out in the sun, we recommend using SPF. Making sunscreen part of your morning routine is perhaps the easiest anti-aging investment you can make!

Bagliora Silk Sunscreen SPF 50
In developing Silk sunscreen, we chose to use chemical SPF filters that are well documented with stable and good protection. They are considered the latest generation of sunscreens and are safety assessed by third parties. When you apply them to the skin, a chemical reaction is created in the top layer of the skin, where the molecules absorb UV radiation and convert it into harmless radiation in the skin.
If you want a sunscreen that both protects and nourishes your skin, then Bagliora Silk Sunscreen SPF 50 is a must-have in your bathroom cabinet or bag. It feels like a luxurious day cream, but at the same time works as a shield against the sun.
Bagliora Silk Sunscreen SPF 50 is ultra-light, fragrance-free and leaves no white cast or residue. It protects against both UVA, UVB and blue light to preserve your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It also nourishes your skin with nourishing ingredients like emollient squalane and vitamin E.
We care about the planet, which is why Bagliora Silk Sunscreen SPF 50 is coral reef safe , meaning we do not use any ingredients that would harm coral reefs if our SPF were to come into contact with the ocean.
Here's how to use it correctly:
Apply as the last step in your skincare routine , about a teaspoon to your face. An easy rule of thumb is the three-finger method: apply sunscreen along your index, middle, and ring fingers to get the right amount.
In short:
Do you want skin that feels good for a long time? Then sunscreen is a must to protect your skin from UV radiation. With Bagliora Silk Sunscreen SPF 50 you get both highly effective protection and a product that cares for your skin. Win-win!
